Sports law

Law applied to the world of sport, for athletes, clubs and sports bodies.

Sport has its own rules and its own system of justice, which sit alongside ordinary law and do not always fit together neatly. Knowing that ground, its governing bodies and its deadlines (often very short) is what makes the difference.

We advise athletes, clubs, agents and sports bodies, both in their ordinary activity (contracts, representation) and when a disciplinary or financial dispute arises.

It is one of the areas the firm has trained for specifically (a Master's in Sports Law from the ICAB), where its usual rigour meets a close knowledge of the sector.

How we can help

Sports discipline

Defence in disciplinary proceedings before federations and sports bodies, where deadlines are short and every submission counts.

Proceedings before the TAD

Appeals and proceedings before the Sports Administrative Court (TAD), the final administrative instance in disciplinary and electoral matters in Spanish sport.

Contracts and representation

Contracts for athletes, coaches and agents; relations with clubs and bodies; image rights and sponsorship.

Sports arbitration (CAS/TAS)

Proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS/TAS) in Lausanne, the leading body in international sports arbitration.

How I handle a sports matter

Every matter is prepared with method: verification of sources, scrupulous attention to deadlines that here tend to be especially short, and a strategy defined before acting.

I do not promise outcomes; I do promise a defence that is prepared, diligent and attentive to the particularities of sports justice.
